You may have seen the recent excitement online about our dreamy friend, Adam Levine crashing weddings and performing in their new music video, Sugar. Turns out, it was all fake! Sad face.

It was exciting to think that these guys actually went around surprising happy couples and rocking out at their weddings, but alas, it was all staged.

Fans began noticing shortly after the video was posted that many of the people in the video were actors, so just like any good people of the internet like to do, they sought answers.

The shocked Asian parents, who were played by Barbara and Stephen Woo, actually posted on Facebook, “The Buzz on the internet is whether the Maroon 5 ‘Sugar’ music video is real or staged. We played the parents of the Asian bride and yes, everything was staged,” they said. “In fact, all of the wedding were filmed at the same location over 3-day period.”

The groom featured at the beginning, according to Cosmopolitan, was named by the online detectives as Nico Evers-Swindell. Turns out the guys already married! Evers-Swindell was His wife, Megan Ferguson and he have been together since 2011. And she’s most definitely not the bride in the vid. You may recognize him in Lifetime’s William & Kate TV movie.

There is also a flurry of speculation that the dark-haired bride was actually  “America’s Next Top Model” runner-up Raina Hein. Judge for yourself:

Levine has been doing interviews about the video and expressing his excitement about how well it went!  “Only the grooms knew in each case,” a rep told Entertainment Tonight. “[Whether] they disclosed it to their bride and the wedding party, we’re not sure… They had stages set up for their actual wedding band already. All we did was some simple continuity changes to match each one as best we could.”

Levine also added in a separate interview, “It felt good to surprise these people and make them happy. [We were] happy that they liked our band too.”

I’m pretty sure they did like the band, since they were paid to be there and also lip-synced most of the words to the song!
